Message: <blockquote data-quote="rajitha_ks" data-source="post: 5238876" data-attributes="member: 162025">things have changed man. there was this thing called the soviet union back then, and becoming the first to land on the moon was on top of the agenda for both those nations so they did everything they could. this apollo project cost the americans 20billion US dollors, involved 400000 people and took 10 years with lots of accidents, trial and error. space race ended with the collapse of the soviet union in 1991 so today there's no real reason just to make a return trip to moon. that being said, nasa is planning to revisit the moon in 10 years time, to lay the foundation to setup a permanent base on moon. and the team involved with that project are getting the consultancy of the original Apollo team.</blockquote>
