The fishermen in 7 fishing trawlers have set out off from Tamil  Nadu. They were rescued by the Sri Lankan Navy when their boats got  damaged or ran aground in rough seas while they were fishing in Sri  Lankan waters. The fishermen have been brought ashore and handed over to the Point  Pedro police, the Sri Lankan Navy said.  The SLN personnel have  retrieved the damaged boats and made repairs after bringing them to the  shore.   India's External Affairs Ministry in a statement said Tuesday that  the Indian High Commission in Colombo and the Consulate General in  Jaffna have worked closely with the local authorities to secure the  fishermen's immediate release and welfare. The fishermen are presently in Jaffna in an accommodation leased for  this purpose by the Consulate, which has also arranged food, clothing,  medical attention and other basic amenities for them, the statement  further said. Sri Lankan authorities have agreed to provide their full cooperation  to ensure the repatriation of the fishermen to India as soon as weather  conditions improve. Efforts are also being made for salvage boats from India to travel  to Sri Lanka to repair the damaged boats and bring them back, if  possible, the Indian Ministry said. CP</blockquote>
