[QUOTE="buddhikamh, post: 1873228, member: 6040"] Normal Desktops/Laptops are NOT meant to be on forever. Servers are for that duty. But yes even I sometimes use mine about 2 ~ 3 days without switching off. Even if you got good cooling it might not be a very good idea to keep it on for weeks. Even your cpu is cooled by a fan, many Motherboard components, RAM and Harddisk are not (if you use coolers for RAM, Harddisk, its only a little better in the long run ) Especially if you downloading that means your hard disk is writing/reading whole time. So probably the first thing you will notice is some sounds coming from Hard disk. If you have touched the Harddisk after few hours of use you will know how much heat it outputs. Anyway if you are using pc even a whole day or so best thing is to has a good air circulation through the CASING.* Most people thinks using a good cooler to processor is enough, but it only takes heat out of processor, if you havent got good exhaust and cool air intakes, that hot air will fill the casing and heat up everything. * = If you're using the pc on normal room (without AC) having air circle through Casing wll get dust into that. and that dust also has affects on PC, especially fans get more friction, dust covered heatsink fins are very less efficient. Next thing is when you try to clean those dusts, " usually " some hardware like vga/ram gets damaged ( it maybe physical or it can be because of static electricity caused by wiping) (even I my self have faced that problem ;) ) Also heat from Hard disk and other Mobo components also should be exhausted quickly. So better to use an ehxaust fan (those little 6 ~ 8cm or so ones- ones normally seen in power supply unit) higher on the casing, as hot air usually goes up. Also make sure power supply is in good condition as in the long run it may get over heated and current supply can have uneveness, which also can be deadly to MOBO. Finally even software wise it could be problematic, as RAM and Cache can be get unefficient on the long run. SO Using a normal desktop 24/7 is a risk that you have to take, but it can be done.
