You should establish a routine. It's hard with a newborn but achievable as they grow up. There are heaps of helpful tips on the internet.
In other countries sometimes they take the infants away to special clinics to train the sleep patterns when they are newborn or in some cases specially trained nurse will do a home visit if you can't cope up the problems. Most of our knowledge and advice is from grandparents as these services does not exist.
Why do you think most of our mothers run behind their kids with a food plate in hand even at a party? That doesn't happen in the Western world. Why? It's the lack of training to establish a schedule when they were toddlers.
Problems with kids do not disappear... As they grow up you have to cope up with another new set of problems. So it's a sort of a never ending challenge. The most important part of parenting is to turn out a socially responsible adult.
