Limited of Bangalore, India.The building will be the tallest in Colombo and is expected to be completed in about three to four years. It will be built in Battaramulla at the cost of US$120 million and will provide employment for large numbers both directly and indirectly.The new tower by NEB projects is described as a mixed development project, which means that it will include office space, commercial and residential sections.NEB is also involved in the project for a MRTS where currently a detailed project is being done by Singapore Land Transport Consortium. In fact the building project will be integrated with the Battaramulla Station of MRTS.The agreement was signed at the Ministry of Enterprise Development and Investment Promotion in the presence of the Minister, Dr Sarath Amunugama, who welcomed the investors and spoke to them on the importance of their project to the city of Colombo and to the country in general.The agreement was signed by Mr. Dhammika Perera, Chairman/ Director General of the BOI and Mr. Nagaraj S.Adiga, Chairman & Managing Director of NEB and Mr. Naveen Bansal Director of NEB.Commenting on the project, Dr. Amunugama said “This will be the biggest and tallest building in Colombo, and will change the face of the capital”.On the future MRTS the Minister added that “it will serve 12,000 people per hour per direction and ease traffic congestions. Another economic benefit will be a massive savings on fuel consumption”. Dr Amunugama added, “A metro is a sign of modernity. Many Asian capital cities now have metros and have benefited considerably in the long term”.Mr. Nagaraj S. Adiga, Chairman & Managing Director of NEB spoke of the vast potential of this project. He said referring to the new 60 story building “We are happy to launch this project here. This will be the tallest building in Colombo City with mixed development and it will have the latest and most modern infrastructure facilities. We are very happy with the support given to us by the government, the UDA and the BOI.
