Unisys Corporation (NYSE: UIS) today announced that its Unisys Federal Systems business unit has achieved ISO/IEC 27001:2005 certification for identifying and managing information security risk internally and for company clients. Additionally, Unisys Federal Systems has extended its current ISO/IEC 20000-1:2005 certification from desktop management services to all of its service offerings. The ISO 27001 certification, awarded by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), requires that information security managers systematically examine risks, taking account of the threats, vulnerabilities and impacts; design and implement a comprehensive suite of controls to address unacceptable risks; and adopt processes to help those controls meet the organization's needs on an ongoing basis. ISO 27001 is an internationally recognized standard for information security management systems that identifies, manages and minimizes the range of information security threats. The ISO 20000 certification, also awarded by ISO and IEC, requires an integrated process approach to delivering managed services that meets business and customer requirements. The ISO 20000 certification is the first internationally recognized standard aimed at IT service management, which is the principal measure of IT quality at an organization level. “Unisys commitment to achieving the highest levels of service quality and security for its customers as well as for our own organization has played a critical role in our success in the Federal market,” said Venkatapathi “PV” Puvvada, vice president and managing partner of Federal horizontal services, Unisys Federal Systems. “Our recent ISO 27001 and ISO 20000 certifications provide us with a competitive differentiator in the market place and a further validation that our approach to managing service delivery and security risk is comprehensive and effective – an important consideration for our business and customers in the Federal government.” These accreditations build on the company’s existing ISO 20000, ISO 9001 and ISO 27001 certifications within its commercial sector.
