The Ambassador of the Republic of China Ye Dabo will participate. </p><p> </p><p>Cultural Affairs and National Heritage Minister Mahinda Yapa Abeywardana said the construction of the theatre was restarted after President Rajapaksa's recent visit to the Republic of China. </p><p> </p><p>The Minister said the proposed theatre will mark the resurgence of cultural relationship of both countries. </p><p> </p><p>"This theatre will be equipped with ultra modern facilities such as an auditorium with 1,288 seats, parking facilities for 500 vehicles, library and training facilities for performing arts, and facilities to conduct educational and research activities", Abeywardana said. </p><p> </p><p>A separate body will be formed to administer the proposed theatre complex. The entire Colombo City will get a facelift with the construction of this theatre, he said. Explaining the achievements under the direction of President Rajapaksa, the Minister said 58 new buildings were being constructed in the Colombo City. </p><p> </p><p>Museums at Sigiriya and Kataragama will be set up while two Kala Nikethanas (Art Centres) will also be constructed in Kandy and Kundasale, he said. Forty-nine per cent of the total cost will be received as a grant from the Republic of China and the rest as an interest free loan. </p><p> </p><p>The construction agreement was signed with the contractor Yangain Company of China.
