So what? It's nothing to crow about and it was a quite known fact. Just another instance of a stupid politician. Even a reply is a waste of time. :ROFLMAO: The vaccines were approved under the EUA (Emergency Use Authorization) and the clinical trials from Moderna, Pfizer-BioNTech, and J&J measured each vaccine’s ability to prevent serious disease, not its ability to block transmission of the virus. Transmission was the least concern at that stage of Covid. Primary concern was the effectiveness against severe disease symptoms. When thousands were falling dead like flies the first attempt is to stop the deaths. Everyone knew that these vaccines didn't prevent infections. That's not simple to achieve and is called Sterilizing Immunity. Further, there were the asymptomatic cases, where they went on transmitting the disease. However, to their credit just after Phase III, Pfizer did gather data related to infection from some of the participants, Moderna did test all participants when they received their second dose and J&J tested about 3000 their participants. Later studies did show that in the United Kingdom both the Pfizer and AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines were effective in preventing onward transmission of the virus to close contacts in case of breakthrough infections. In one study among the general population in the United Kingdom, the effectiveness against transmission from breakthrough infections to household contacts from 21 days after the first dose was 47% (95% CI: 37–57) for the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine and 49% (95% CI: 41–56) for the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine. Another study from the United Kingdom reported that, among healthcare workers, who predominantly received the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine, vaccination was associated with a 30% (95% CI: 22–37) reduction in transmission of SARS-CoV-2 to household contacts. PS: Far worse was to promote the sale of dud vaccines without even proper trial reports being published. :(
