While the report falls short of the comprehensive accountability process recommended by the UN Secretary General’s panel of experts, it does make important recommendations”, she stated addressing the 19th session of the UNHRC.</strong></p><p> </p><p> <strong>Pillay encourage the government to engage with the special procedures and with her office on a follow up to the report and also stated that she hoped the Council would discuss these important reports.</strong></p><p> </p><p> <strong>“States have an obligation to protect its citizens from threats to their security in a manner that respects their human rights.
