Media Minister Keheliya Rambukwella addressing the Cabinet Press Briefing in Colombo, said that educated people and especially those in a profession where an oath had been taken to place humanitarian service over monetary considerations, should not be squabbling over "little, little things". At the rate medical trade unions were launching strikes,no Health Minister would be able to resolve all the demands that were being made,he pointed out. "We are faced with a situation that when one trade union’s demands are met, another opposes it and most times in a selfish manner. This,is followed by a new set of demands. How can any Health Minister deal with such a situation",Rambukwella queried adding that it was high time doctors and nurses sat round a table, discussed their problems and differences and arrived at a consensus, without demonstrating on the streets at a drop of a hat. The government also appeals to all health workers to place the country and the large number of patients who flock to state hospitals on a daily basis, before self,he said [/QUOTE]
