And with the retail price of the Xbox 360 now cut so that it starts at £129.99 (before anyone does any discounting), the PS3 finds itself once more at an extreme price disadvantage in comparison to Microsoft’s machine. A similar situation exists elsewhere on the planet, too. However, Sony has moved to rule out any chance that it will be cutting the price of its console this side of Christmas. According to Sony Computer Entertainment president Kazuro Hirai, in discussion with the Financial Times, "The answer is yes, if you're asking, 'Are these the prices we're going with this Christmas?'” While Sony has done significant work to ensure that each console sold is no longer the major loss maker it still was, it still doesn’t clear a profit on each machine it sells (unlike Nintendo with its Wii machine). And given how long it took the PS3 to get off the blocks, you can’t help but wonder just how much the firm still loses on each machine it sells. For after a good year, where it had been playing catch up with the Xbox 360 (that had a significant head start in the market), the PS3 now finds itself being outsold by the Xbox 360 again on a monthly basis. We suspect that it might just be a Microsoft and Nintendo Christmas…<a href="http://www.denofgeek.com/games/129329/playstation_3_no_prechristmas_price_cut.html" target="_blank">denofgeek</a></blockquote>
