Message: <blockquote data-quote="lkdood" data-source="post: 11079074" data-attributes="member: 92282">Six Media organisations today condemned the action of the Police for  forcing a TV journalist to delete pictures he had taken in relation to a  news item he had covered in the Moratuwa area.The organizations said that a Sirasa TV journalist Indika Shri  Aravinda had videoed the family members weeping over the death of a  suspect who died in Police custody when the Police had taken him to the  Moratuwa police and forced him to delete the pictures he had taken,  despite his protest.The Sri Lanka Working Journalists Association, Federation of Media  Employees Trade Unions, Sri Lanka Muslim Media Federation, Sri Lanka  Tamil Journalists Association, Free Media Movement and the Sri Lanka  Chapter of the South Asia Free Media Association condemned the incident.They said that such an incident of persons death in Police custody is  an important news item which should reach the public in the wake of  similar incidents in the recent past.They said that it was serious situation that the police was trying to coverup such incident. They urged the Inspector General of Police to create an environment  where the journalists could perform their duties without any hindrance.Sundaytimes</blockquote>
