Message: <blockquote data-quote="nismok" data-source="post: 6482111" data-attributes="member: 109094">By Amreen Ameen @ DailyMirror          The police have warned that they will be compelled to shoot on sight if  any group or individual ignores the law and attempts to incite violence  during the Presidential elections.          Senior DIG of the police elections unit Gamini Navaratna, speaking to  Daily Mirror online, said that the police are empowered to implement the  law under the Presidential elections act of 1981.          He said that at first the police will issue a warning to anyone  attempting to create violence including damaging property at a polling  booth and if the warning is not respected then the police have orders to  open fire.          The DIG also said there are no immediate plans to have a police curfew  during the elections as, according to him, they do not expect any  serious mass scale incidents to break out.</blockquote>
