Message: <blockquote data-quote="nismok" data-source="post: 6664247" data-attributes="member: 109094">A massive crowd  participated in the protests organized by the Joint  opposition  against  the arrest of Gen Fonseka by the Govt. .  The Demonstrations were staged this morning (10) in the  vicinity of  the Hultsdorf Courts complex. The massive crowd was also  able to  overpower a group of Govt. goons and gangs which arrived at the  venue  to disperse and disrupt the protestors.  The milling crowds  shouted  slogans and carried placards calling for  the immediate release  of Gen  .Fonseka held in custody illegally by the Govt.The gangs and goons of Mervyn Silva and Dumminda Silva ,  some carrying  pictures of Mahinda Rajapkse while others with stones and  bottles who  came to disrupt  the demonstration were repulsed and chased  away. These  thugs finally fled in the direction of the  Keselwatte  Police.The Demonstrations were staged successfully  thereafter for about two  hours.UNP Dep. Leader  Karu Jayasooriya, Gen. secretary Tissa Attanayake , MPs  , Ravi  Karunanayake, Dr.Jayalth juawardena, Daysiri Jayasekera , Rosie   Senanyake, JVP leader Somawansa Ameasinghe, ULF leader Wickremebahu    Karunanayake and Buddhist Prelates participated in this  demonstration. The arrival of Gen. Fonseka’s wife Anoma Fonseka at the  scene of  Demonstration gave a fresh impetus to the Demonstrators . She  was  warmly welcomed by the crowd with cheers and applause.
