Actual situation is really different from that. By reducing rates, Profits of Phone Companies directly reduced. Then they wont get enough profits to expand and develop their networks. As low cost solutions are being taken reliability of service gone down. In early time GSM(2G) has launched telecom operators expanded their networks very faster and they have taken quality equipments for their networks. But sometime after Mobitel came into play, They reduced rates instantly with cheaper solutions(Huawei : products are not reliable). Then others couldn't sell their SIMs at their rates. So they also had to reduce rates. reducing rates means cutting off profit. So others also had to stop expanding of their network and had to go to cheaper solutions with reducing quality of their network. Results of this phenomena are

Cutting jobs of people who are working in telecommunication industry
Sri Lankans are experiencing the effects of low reliable telecommunication network service.
Time taken to spread new technologies(3G and 3.5G at this moment) is too longer
poor coverage in rural areas
Marketing is being the first thing have to consider other than quality of service or technology (That is why such a big number of advertisements we are seen daily on TV etc. So they spent their money for advertising not for network)
researching and knowledge development in telecommunication goes down on our country.
Recent job cut in telecommunication industry and new people wouldn't be able to come to industry (people who passing out from universities, technical colleges)
Remember, who should responsible for creating these defects in telecommunication industry in Sri Lanka? Mobitel That is why still we are experiencing slower speeds of internet connections for our homes while other countries going forward. Think about this carefully. Don't promote such companies who destroy our industries even they are Sri Lankans. Tigo, Dialog always tried to gave us good quality of service, good salaries for employees, helped universities to research on new technologies etc. Other hand Quality telecommunication vendors such as Ericsson, Alcatel are being shrink in their action. So technology flow into our country being disturbed. Chinese companies (Huawei) are conquering our industries. If Mobitel wasn't there we may have a chance to experience high speed internet connections, 3G in everywhere, good job potential in telecom industry and many more. So this is the sad full real situation. I am loving my country and who try to built up my country. Don't think that I am boasting to promote foreign companies. Thank you if you read this essay completely.
