The strengthening storm is a category 3 storm at the moment just off the coast of Masirah. The storm is expected to affect Muscat in about 48 hours and will be a category 4-5 storm. There is a chance that it may turn towards Pakistan before the eye reaches Muscat due to the slowing down of windspeed over land. Oman Status ATM- The whole of WEST COAST is put in EMERGENCY. People in danger zones in SUR have been evacuated to Shelters. The government asks all citizens to be very cautious and stay inside houses during the storm. This cyclone is a very severe and powerful cyclone and arrives almost exactly 4 years after cyclone GONU which made landfall in Oman on the June 6th. Service men from the Royal Omani Coast Guard, Navy, Air Force, Army, and Police are ready for any relief efforts and rescues. A population of 1,600,000 in only Oman to be affected by the cyclone. </blockquote>
