Message: <blockquote data-quote="fallenzeraphine" data-source="post: 2053771" data-attributes="member: 76400"><p>if you are talking about performance, then yes Intel wins hands down, but things are a bit complicated than that, say if you want to build a HTPC, new AMD 780 chipset has a integrated HD3200 GFX card with a Universal Video decoder that can decode full resolution HD videos in real time with little to no burden to the cpu, infact its so good all you need is a sloppy sempron to play the highest quality movies. if you are in to overclocking then AMD is not for you, cuz the K8 and the K10 architectures have smaller number of pipelines than Core 2's they dont overclock too well, if you think of a long upgradability path then AMD is the way to go, cuz intel is going to drop socket 775 very soon, but all processors that are scheduled for next few years by AMD are compatible with AM2+, and in the future with LGA1060 socket (combined wth the Nehalem processor) intel is gonna lock overclocking for mainstream alltogeather and we will be forced to buy AMD, and i think AMD's K10.1 SHanghai will be quite a performer, we will see in the future.</p></blockquote><p></p>
