Players take on the role of a samurai who is charged with keeping up order and peace in war-torn Japan. The means of establishing order is of course the samurai blade. In addition to taking on enemies alone, players can also use earned points to recruit others and help them on their quest. Once on a mission, of which there are 800 different ones, fighting is handled in real time. The main character can attack and block and there are also one-hit kill move that can be used against enemies that have been knocked down. The game also features RPG-style character upgrades.
