Still to this day I don't work in the programming field i had the passion. When I following the degree i was passionate about IoT & robotics stuff, what I'm doing in now doesn't have that kind of stuff not even in the company i work. </span></p><p><span style="font-size: 15px">You can definitely get a programming job that pays above 60,000 but most probably after one year with experience. Because in sri lanka in most cases specially in software engineering for your first job, your degree, university matters to the salary. When i started my job 5,6 people from private universities(including myself) and another 4 from government universities. We all did the same task & but all private guys payed only 30,000 while the government guys been payed well over 30,000. one guy from colombo uni got more than 40 or 50, other guys from moratuwa got over 100,000. that's the difference, but we all did the same job. so with skills and experince your degree and university starts to matter less but at the beginning it definitely matter. </span></p><p><span style="font-size: 15px">Some advertisements even in topjobs mention "applicants must be below 30" even if doesn't mention in the advert, that may be considered in interviews specially HR interviews. Because they know people in that age have high tendency to get married and consider work-life balance very seriously, sometime they see that as a risk. even when we say I'm ok with late hours, they see that as a risk. because when they hire very young people for such stressful jobs, they know they work long hours, work for the very low salary, less tendency to leave office at least for a year because of low salary or stress but people in 30s have good idea about everything, they need to be payed well, work-life balance and career growth and everything. </span></p><p><span style="font-size: 15px"></span></p><p><span style="font-size: 15px">If you have a business don't you think you have to spend some time for that as well. If you work 12 hours a day for office job how you gonna manage another business. </span></p><p><span style="font-size: 15px"></span></p><p><span style="font-size: 15px">at the end, you can definitely get payed over 60+ but that depends on so many things/risks and career start won't be easy as well.
