This is what happened to Private Medical College(North colombo Medical college) in 1980s, but there was a difference as it was done by the then govt. The key people in setting up a private medical college were JR(who was the minister for Higher Education - he held no less than 7 important ministries) , late Stanly Wijesundara(VC of colombo uni) late Punchinilame MP(deputy minister for Higher Education). The project came to an end with government taking over it and affiliating it to the Kelaniya Uni.Even at that time there was a move to get recognition through a Court Order, but at that time there were good judges and the idea was abandoned.without proper standards how could any professional body admit professionals . How could the court order such a thing . I do not understand. (I am not a doctor and I am not opposed to any body studying medicine in any place including Sri Lanka )</blockquote>
