O/L shock for Isipatana rugby The release of the Ordinary Level examination results have sent shock waves at Isipatana College. The Morning Leader reliably learns that three senior members of the Isipatana first XV have failed their ordinary level examination for a second year and thus would be ineligible to represent their alma mater in the up coming season scheduled to get under way towards the latter part of April. Star player and national represenative Sajith Saranga is reported to be one of the concerned players. According to the Education Ministry circular applicable to students representing their school at inter-school tournaments, successive failures at the ordinary level examination operates as a bar for concerned students to don their college jersey at an inter-school match. This issue of eligibility arose even last season where the concerned player interestingly being from Isipatana. The matter ended up in Hulftsdorp hill with Isipatana producing a letter of special permission issued by the Education Ministry to the concerned player. The Morning Leader also learns that Isipatana authorities are making attempts to seek special permission from the Education Ministry for the three players who have failed their O/L exam. Last weekend's inter-school seven-a-side rugby tournament, which Isipatana emerged champions did not feature the three concerned players who had been sidelined for obvious reasons. Meanwhile The Morning Leader also learns schools participating in the top league this season are taking steps to enlighten the Sri Lanka Schools Rugby Football Association (SLSRFA) and the other relevant authorities on the status quo of the matter. Isipatana are due to play their first game on the 25th of April against Trinity College.
