Sarath Fonseka. According to the plot his position would be made a passive one by slashing the powers entitled for his position. Already, his staff and security have been reduced and the powers and facilities he had been promised when he was appointed to the position have not been given. No gazette has been issued announcing such authority or facilities.   The main reason for the conspiracy against Gen. Fonseka is said to be his stand against fraud and corruption. He has been very strict against fraud and corruption and has taken drastic action against such acts. Having such a person in the position of ‘Chief of staff’ has been a hindrance to certain officers and politicians who are bent on fraud and corruption.   When authorities had wanted to resettle IDPs in areas before land mines were cleared Gen. Sarath Fonseka had not agreed. He was of the view that security in the areas should be strengthened before IDPs are resettled. However, there is a move to resettle IDP without any proper plan but due to pressure from foreign forces. </blockquote>
