The funeral is expected to take place on Wednesday.Sai Baba, 85, was admitted to the SSSIHMS on March 28 for treatment of pneumonia and repiratory problems and was in a critical condition at the hospital for the past many days. His condition had deteriorated in the last three days.As the Sai Central Trust announced the demise of Sai Baba almost three hours later, devotees and mourners descended on this pilgrim town to pay their last respects.Sai Baba is survived by three brothers and as many sisters and one nephew, Ratnakar, who was inducted into the Sai Central Trust headed by former Chief Justice of India P N Bhagwati.The Andhra Pradesh government has declared an official funeral for Sai Baba and pressed into service additional buses to this pilgrim town for his followers to visit the town.Large television screens have also been put up across Puttaparthi and Dharmavaram, the nearest rail head, about 40 kms from here, to help the mourners.The town is getting readied as the state government is making arrangements to receive his thousands of followers, including politicians, industrialists, film stas, sports personalities and other celebrities.Sachin Tendulkar, who skipped his birthday celebrations in the wake of Sathya Sai Baba’s death, decided to go ahead with playing the Mumbai Indians IPL match against Deccan Chargers here.
