Thomas’ will clash for the Lady Evelyn Jayatileke Shield  at Longdon Place today. The Lady Jayatileke Shield was introduced way back in  1966 by her son and Old Joe Lucien Jayatileke in memory of his mother. Coincidentally the Joes led by Lucien’s son Rohan Jayatileke were the first  holders of the Shiled. But since then the Thomians have won the Shield on many  occasions. The last win the Joes achieved was in the year 1999 when the side was led by  Lakshitha Gunaratne while Thomians won it last year under Johann Fernando. The Thomians holders of the shield since 2000 will go all out to retain it  for the ninth consecutive year. The two teams will be led by the No 8’s with the  Joes by Bhanuka Hegoda and the Thomians by Rohitha Rajapakse Nevertheless today the game is going to be a close tussle with the  Josephians  who are  leading  the  Division 1B category with seven wins from  seven outings wil be leaving no stone unturned to achieve a win after eight  years. The Thomians on the other hand have had fluctuated fortunes this season.  They started the season with a bang but fell back at the halfway stage. But the  scales are in favour of them.</blockquote>
