In the process of the peacekeeping operations, 2 soldiers were killed in a raid in Petit-Goave.[17] After over 6 months of service, the first contingent of the peacekeeping force returned to Sri Lanka on May 17, 2005[16]. In December 2007, 7th rotation of the Sri Lankan contingent had been deployed with a force of 991 officers and other ranks, many of the those deployed have been awarded the United Nations Medal for their services.</p></blockquote><p></p>
