According to sources, UNP Deputy Leader Karu Jayasuriya and General Secretary Tissa Attanayake organized the religious observance, using coconuts to receive blessings. Afterwards, UNP parliamentarians joined a special protest campaign in Chilaw against the attack. During the protest, Mr. Attanayake told the media that they have taken this action as the Government has failed to arrest suspects in the crime, in which the MP’s house and office were set on fire.
