Message: <blockquote data-quote="lkdood" data-source="post: 9505186" data-attributes="member: 92282">The Sri Lankan government plans to send a ship  to Malta, the closest Port to Libya to evacuate stranded Sri Lankans as  the situation in Libya is worsening.   The government said it has taken this measure as all the airports in  Libya have been closed and that country's major airport in Tripoli is  inaccessible due to continuous protests.   Sri Lanka's Minister of foreign Employment Promotion and Welfare,  Dilan Perera has said that the government is making multi-pronged  approaches to evacuate Sri Lankans working in Libya as the situation  there is worsening.   The Minister has appointed a committee to coordinate the evacuation round the clock through the External Affairs Ministry.    "We are unable to make any logistic arrangements through IOM, as we  understand that the IOM has left Libya due to the prevailing situation,"  the Government Media Unit quoted the Minister.   "Therefore External Affairs Ministry is making arrangements for this move," he has added.   In another move, the Foreign Employment Bureau is making  arrangements to bring the hundreds of Sri Lankans who have crossed the  border to Egypt from that country.     The Bureau has said that it is ready to provide the migrant workers  necessary travel arrangements inclusive of free air tickets to bring  them back to the country.   Sri Lankan migrant workers, mostly employed in the Middle East  contribute millions of dollars to the country's foreign exchange  reserves through monthly remittances.
