The  monks, all Sri Lankan nationals who tried to intervene, were attacked.  They were admitted to a private hospital where their condition was said  to be stable. “The attack took place around 10 p.m.  The monks speak only Sinhala and we are trying to arrange for  translators. Special teams have been formed to apprehend the suspects,”  Additional Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) M. Shakeel Akhter  said.
