A published author and former university professor, Pettis received ridicule and ostracism by his academic colleagues for his outlandish claims.The Experiment: Determined to prove the validity of his hypothesis, Fowler creates a microcosm of the impending civil devolution by locking six human beings in an increasingly hot steam room. This controlled environment, monitored by hidden cameras, affords him the opportunity to analyze the effects of the rising heat and restricted movement of his subjects.
