The myth and reasons behind itYes, undergraduates enrolled in Govt. Universities might be performing better than ones in private Universities. The sole reason behind this, is the illusions created by the society. In Sri Lanka, people believe to "only the best people can get to a Govt. University". Therefore, from the moment we get that acceptance letter from Uni of Moratuwa, Uni of Peradeniya, our mind automatically begins saying "You're the best of best". Due to this selected students create a determination to ace their studies in University. And ultimately it becomes possible, because you've the determinations and the strength to go that extra mile. Simply because, we set our mind on that track.It's all just a mind game. If you have the correct mind set, Govt or not, you'll reach the zenith anywhere.So A/L doesn't have anything to do with Engineering?Yest it has, a lot. Mathematics is a key component in Engineering. But think about it, there's only a limited amount of vacancies available in Govt. Universities. Therefore, they have to make the exams difficult to limit the intake.
