I think Islam loses credibility with most people after their believers defend that Muhammad nailing a 9 year old is alright. Morality in religious view is not subjective. It cannot be as it would render the words of any holy text to be irrelevant over a period of time. Therefore, what Muhammad did should be legal in islamic countries today should it not? But it definitely isn't. You can probably stretch it to about 15 years of age, when a girl is actually capable of giving birth without complications, problems etc. But 9 years old? I don't think so. I think it's interesting that religious fanatics are also the least scientifically credible people, the last argument with an Islamic scholar I had (as he had proclaimed) tried to prove his scientific credentials by posting 10 second video clips of some scientists in the 1980's saying certain parts of the Quran are true. I have no doubt that certain things in the Quran are true, much like in any other holy text, but come on, to cherrypick scientific information to fit your agenda is not scientific credibility. It's idiocy. If Islam contains all these scientific truths bla bla as some "scholars" claim, then why the hell aren't all the scientists in the world turning out to be Muslims? Heck, I've done a few years of engineering, and I haven't encountered in Physics that has made me go, heyyyyy this looks like something in the Quran, perhaps I should now convert! It's the power of suggestion and where your mind is at, if you're that much of a fanatic, even the slightest, ambiguous reference will be used to further propagate your agenda.
