In April 2017, the  popular brand sold a total of 312,632 units – or a stupendous 10,420 for  each day of April! The largest selling scooter brand continues to  improve upon its YoY figures. Having sold 233,935 units in April 2016,  it has notched a solid 33.64 percent growth in April 2017, faster than  the top-selling motorcycle brand – Hero Splendor. Meanwhile, picking up further on growing demand, the 110cc TVS Jupiter  has also clocked YoY growth of 35.30 percent with sales of 58,527 units  in April 2017 (April 2016: 43,256). Imporatantly, riding on Jupiter  sales, TVS Motor has now become the second largest scooter player in the  domestic scooter segment, beating Hero MotoCorp by a thin margin in  FY2016-17. Riding past the Hero Maestro in April 2017, the Honda Dio  ranks No. 3 with sales of 43,948 units, up by 189.11 percent YoY albeit  on a low year-ago base. Honda Dio’s sales in April last year stood at  15,201 units only. At No. 4 is Hero MotoCorp’s bestselling scooter brand, Maestro with sales of 35,213 units (down by 0.65 percent). The Maestro had sold 35,445 units in April 2016. Suzuki Motorcycle’s bestselling model in India, the Access 125 scooter  sold 28,020 units in April 2017, up by an impressive 59.28 percent YoY.  The Suzuki Access 125 continues to be a strong contender in the Indian  scooter market and is one popular model from the Japanese company to  have tasted success consistently. Yamaha’s 113cc scooter models Fascino and Ray  rank sixth and seventh in April 2017. While the Fascino sold 21,479  units (down by 0.58 percent YoY), the Ray went home to 15,442 buyers (up  by 78.21 percent YoY) in April 2017. At No. 8 is the Hero Duet, which has recorded sales of 14,817 units last month.
