The suspect was an engineering graduate who taught Combine Maths and other Maths subjects for the GCE A\L students at the tuition class. He had forwarded two applications for the GCE A\L 2006. One of them was in his name and the other was in the name of his student whom he sought to impersonate. He also forged the National Identity Card and other documents, said Examinations Commissioner Anura Edirisinghe. He has applied as a private candidate and sat for the exam at the Bandaragama National School. He did not sit in his original designated seat. Instead he took the place of his student, he added. Acting on a tip off we apprehended the suspect and bared the fraud. Later we also realised that about four students at the same examination centre were being sent scribbled answers by the tuition teacher. This was a well-planned act of cheating," the Commissioner said. According to him the application form for the examination too had been forged.
