Hi all Just want to make a note about the UK immigration cap for the elakiriyans who is out there planning to come to UK under various work routes and student visas. Major Changes 1. Immigration cap will be set to 20700 visas for workpermits (Tier 2) for the year 2011/2012 2. Tier 1 General Visas also known as HSMP will be restricted to entrepreneurs, scientists and people with exceptional skills in another word normal people will get the boot. And this is set to 1000 visas per year. So if you are planning to apply under HSMP/Tier1 (General) please do before April 2011. There will be a period of 8 weeks for consulting student visa changes and the proposals are 1. No more visa will be issued for students who apply for courses below degree level. 2. Dependents cant work 3. Work hours will be set to 10 hours 4. Post Study Work Visa (PSW) will be cancelled (This is the most importatnt thing for our students) Bear in mind that these are proposals but there is a big chance that they will implement the changes for the student visas. You can follow these links and get more details http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/sitecontent/newsfragments/35-t1-t2-annual-limits http://www.publications.parliament.uk/pa/cm/cmtoday/cmdebate/03.htm
