Since I’m in the opposition, it might get worse if I contest and [I'm] elected, so there is a lot to think about before I decide," Ranatunga told the Chinese news agency Xinhua.The 49-year-old said that he will seriously contemplate running if it is guaranteed that president Mahinda Rajapaksa's government will not interfere in the affairs of the board and the election.The last election, held after a seven-year period that witnessed government-appointed interim-committees take charge of the board, reeked of government interference, critics say.
