Message: <blockquote data-quote="lkdood" data-source="post: 12562754" data-attributes="member: 92282">Sri Lanka's Associated Motor Ways (AMW)  Company says that the prices of motor vehicles will further go up with  the government's decision to shift disembarkation of motor vehicles to  Hambantota from May 31.   A company spokesman said the car carriers will be used to transport  motor vehicles to Colombo for the distribution and one carrier can carry  only six cars.   Therefore, the price of one car will go up by about Rs. 25,000 additionally, the company says.   AMW is the agents of a range of light vehicles including Japanese Suzuki  and Indian Maruti products that have a very big market share.   However, Deputy Minister of Ports and Highways Rohitha Abeygunawardena  said over 90 percent of the vehicle importers have agreed to this  arrangement.  Necessary arrangements are now being made in the port premises to carry  out motor vehicle imports from the Hambantota Port before the end of  next month, he said.   The Minister has pointed out that import of vehicles through the  Hambantota Port will become more meaningful as these vehicles are being  distributed to various parts of the country.
