For example, we all know gaming is currently slow on Vista compared to XP. This is not completely Vista's (Microsoft's) fault. The graphics card companies had to rewrite their drivers (actually it's the driver model) because Vista changed the way the whole graphics card was treated up to now. With Vista, once you boot into Windows, it's like running a 3D game which uses DirectX (not OpenGL <img src="/styles/default/xenforo/smilies/default/happy.gif"  class="smilie" loading="lazy" alt=":)" title="Happy    :)" data-shortname=":)" />). This is why people said DirectX10 wouldn't come in XP. DirectX is an integral part of Vista, and it cannot be installed in XP just like the previous ones - at least in the way MS have developed it up to now. But there are rumours that XP will get DX10 support with it's Service Pack 3. But this would be pretty much the same thing as DX9 with new improved DX10 APIs; not like the core of Windows Vista's GUI.</blockquote>
