The monitor has a total viewable area of 16 inches (screen measured diagonally), has 0.25mm dot pitch and boasts of anti-glare, non-reflective and anti-static coating. The maximum supported resolution is 1280x1024 at 60Hz, 1024x768@80Hz being the maximum usable. The OSD and the controllers aren't as good as the which we tested some time back, and the OSD cannot be moved around the screen, causing inconvenience to users who like to tweak their monitor's controls while looking at a sample image. There is no need to degauss this monitor, as it auto degausses on power up. The build quality is very good, the buttons are slick in operation, and the swivel base is smooth and firm - one of the best, especially considering the weight larger monitors put on a swivel base.</p><p>We tested the monitor using Display Mate at 1024X768 at 85Hz, the optimal resolution at the correct aspect ratio (1024x768 is a wide-screen ratio), and the monitor has no moiré problems whatsoever. The image is sharp, without any colour or shape artifacts. Regulation (the tendency of on-screen images to increase and decrease in size, while changing from bright to dark patterns, and vice versa) is pretty much negligible, which is the true sign of a well-made picture tube/electron gun combo. The screen reflects less light than the usual CRTs, but we did find the to be a little freer from glare. The whites displayed are pure, and the focus of the monitor is also error-free, producing sharp and colour-perfect images.</p><p></p><p>The LG E700S is a near-perfect monitor, and the fact that it retails for a very reasonable Rs.13500 makes it only more attractive.
