When you use cheap refills for printers several things happen. 1. Wrong color (lightness, black becomes gray, brown, red) 2. Head Clogs (lines appear in print out) 3. Wrong ink type can lead to permanent head damage! I don't use refills Consider buying a new printer when you buy new cartridges because most of the time the cost of cartridges is equal to the cost of a new printer. What can you do to prevent it? Buy good brands like InkTec. Never buy cheap ink, JetBoss, and other stuff. IMPORTANTLY take a print every 1 week!!! do not let the ink dry inside the head! My head is clogged what can I do? 1. Do print head cleaning, deep cleaning if needed. 2. Press the head on a tissue paper (soft ones!). 3. Put the head in hot water (not boiling!) keep changing water to keep it hot. for 3-4 hours. (Only the head part!!) 4. Put the head in alcohol 5. Place the head facing the top apply a few alcohol drops to the head wait until it gets sucked into the head. Then turn it so the head is facing down and press the head on a soft tissue. 6. Cry like a baby :P What is ink types? There are two ink types in use. Dye-Based and Pigmented. Pigmented ink is low quality but is water resistant (used by Epson), but has micro particles that will result in quick head clogs. Dye-based have rich colors but tends to fade and is not water resistant.
