The pituitary gland (a major <a href="http://health.howstuffworks.com/human-nature/emotions/other/framed.htm?parent=fear.htm&url=http://training.seer.cancer.gov/module_anatomy/unit6_3_endo_glnds.html" target="_blank">endocrine gland</a>) secretes the hormone ACTH (adrenocorticotropic hormone).
