Message: <blockquote data-quote="Core" data-source="post: 7771309" data-attributes="member: 263471">LEARN The Lanka Education And Research Network is the NREN (National Research  and  Education Network) of Sri Lanka, which interconnects Educational and Research institutions across the  country. It is an advanced network supporting <a href="http://www.ac.lk/ipv6/" target="_blank">IPv6</a>  and <a href="http://www.ac.lk/multicast/" target="_blank">multicast</a>.  We currently interconnect all of the UGC funded state  universities, a  number of public universities under other ministries and private  universities, the  University Grants Commission, the Ministry of Higher Education, and a  number of national research institutions including the National  Science Foundation (NSF).       Our network currently includes optical fiber links ranging from  34 Mbps  to 10Mbps to most campuses, and 2 Mbps links to universities at distant  locations where optical fiber is not available. Smaller institutions/ campuses are connected with links ranging from 2 Mbps to 128kbps.   We also have a direct connection to <a href="http://www.schoolnet.lk/" target="_blank">SchoolNet</a>,  the network connecting secondary schools in Sri Lanka.  We have redundent international connectivity through multiple  operators. At present out main international connectivity is 155Mbps (shared with SchoolNet). A 45Mbps link to the <a href="http://www.tein3.net/" target="_blank">TEIN3  network</a> is also planned.   LEARN is also an serving as a provider NREN in the <a href="http://serene.learn.ac.lk/" target="_blank">South-South Exchange of Research &  Education Network Experience (SERENE)</a> program. <a href="http://www.ac.lk/" target="_blank">http://www.ac.lk/</a></blockquote>
