What AMD is got is not 64bit. It is just an extension to the "age old" x86 architecture. That's what Intel's desktop and lower end server class processors (Xeon) have too. They are not "true" 64bit architectures. AMD's AMD64 = Intel EM64T more or less.They have some 64bit components like registers and ALU portions.
