Alaya, they use propagnda to make it seem like there is an ethnic problem. And then when the government does things like evicting Tamils from Colombo, it only helps them make a case against racism. But from this thread I'm trying to consider Indian influences in Sri Lanka and during the Cold War US and Russia's influences. Also, there's great dispute in India, some Tamils there don't want to be part of India, they want autonomy and there are groups there (which I bet have ties with the LTTE) who want independence from India. Also what scares me is that every country that India wanted to make part of their own but failed has some sort of insurgency in them. Maybe big democracies that consist of a number of states (like US/India) gain from their neighbours downfall. The idea is the bigger the democracy is the more powerful it becomes. Take for instance what Che Guvera tried to do. He tried to unite South American countries into one big country. If that had been done then South America would be a big power today because they would have almost everything (second largest reserve of oil, gold/silver etc...). So my conspiracy theory is that India is trying to make all the states it failed to acquire feel very sorry for resisting. Maybe in hopes that in the future we'll all fail and eventually become part of India. Who knows.
