As I've heared Ravana did have connections with India. It says Yakkas did have a kingdom in India. Dhandaka Aranya (where Rama, Seetha & Lakshman dewlt) was also a part of Ravana's Indian Kingdom. I've heared that they hurt Suparnakha because she was against hunting & disturbing hela people who lived there.   I've heared few different stories...
