The suspect remanded till the 6th of November by the Matale Magistrate. Political analyst said this move is a major threat to the freedom of expression. Government  decided to publish advertisements in ‘national’ newspapers stating that news published in news web sites are fabricated, asking people not to accept them and be wary of such news publications, few days ago. Media Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeyawardene said the government took measures to first ban pornographic web sites and now its attention is drawn towards web sites that publish fabrications as news.
