Called YouTube TV, the service brings “the best of YouTube experience to live TV” with a mix of videos from broadcast networks and cable networks. It costs US$35 a month (about LKR5300), and offers streaming on four major networks including ABC, CBS, FOX and NBC, as well as about 35 cable channels. It allows subscribers to watch must-see shows such as “Empire”, “The Voice”, and “The Big Bang Theory”, and even live sports. YouTube says that cloud DVR can record multiple shows simultaneously without using your data or space on your phone. To be rolled out in the U.S. in “the next few months”, YouTube TV will be available on all screen sizes be it on mobile, tablet or computer. Those who prefer to watch their favourite TV shows can stream to the TV via Google Chromecast. YouTube TV also works on both Android and iOS. YouTube TV costs US$35 a month and includes YouTube Red (also available in the U.S. only). Each membership comes with six accounts, so you can share it with your friend and family because each account will have its own unique recommendations, and personal DVR with no storage limits. However, one YouTube TV membership account only allow up to three concurrent streams at a time. Sadly though, YouTube will only launch YouTube in the U.S. The company did not mention anything about international availability so don’t hold your breath for it.
