Boy shot dead in Gurudeniya

A man mistakenly shot and killed a 16 year old boy in the Gurudeniya area off Kandy after his neighbours alerted him that a thief had entered the area, Police said.
The boy was a student of Dharmaraja College, Kandy.

Police said that the man was apparently under the influence of liquor and when the neighbours had alerted him about a thief entering the area he had opened fire ino the area he suspected where the thief had entered.

He was in possession of a shot gun for which he had a licence.

A 16-year-old boy was killed in a mishap related to another Grease Devil incident in Gurudeniya of Kandy district in the Central Province.

The villagers were on a hunt last night for a suspicious person alleged to be a Grease Devil.

The boy has also joined the search and the death occurred when a drunken person who was among the search party fired his gun recklessly.

A tense situation erupted in the area following the killing.

Thalathuoya police arrested the person suspected to be the gunman and the investigations are underway.
