Sri Lanka's ex-Army Commander Sarath Fonseka who is jailed now under sentences of the Court Martial and the Colombo High Court has said that he will not oppose a Presidential pardon.
United National Party (UNP) General Secretary Tissa Attanayake says that steps are underway to make a special request to the President in this regard.
A well-known Buddhist monk has come forward to deliver the request of the Opposition Leader to the President, the UNP General Secretary says.
UNP General Secretary made these observations to media after visiting the former Army Commander in jail.
However, Fonseka has told that he or his family will not make any request in regard of his release to the President.
