I have a question with regards to the full Mishra Sinhala Hodiya

Do any present day Sinhala alphabet books still teach the Mishra Sinhala Hodiya?

I know many of the books published after 1948, some of which I have seen myself, have the Mishra Hodiya, but don't go into detail on their usage.

Also from what I have heard, Sinhala alphabet books published during the British colonial era did have, and most possibly taught, the Mishra Hodiya and they also included letters not found in most Mishra Hodiya charts today. ie: ,, and.

I hope to hear from someone soon in regards to this subject.

actually mishra sinhala hodiya is a little cofused today with the arrival of f and z, and the addition of following letters.
    ඟ ඦ ඬ ඳ ඹ
    . (and ෆ(f)too as i said )
but still ඏ ඐ are still there. they are included in all versions of mishra sinhala hodiya today.
today the mishra sinhala hodiya is all these letters. so you can call the whole chart mishra sinhala hodiya:yes:

I copied and pasted them, one at a time from Wikipedia. Another interesting thing about the Hodiya is that in some books, appears in place of . Though I think some books do have both and .

Where is z? As far as I know, it is not even in the hodiya yet! Glad to know , and are still in the Sinhala hodiya. Though , and are rarely used, it's good to know them, especially when reading some old text that has words with those letters. Another good thing to know is bandi akuru as these are also used from time to time.

yes. z is still not in the alphabet but the trend is that they write it with ස and z together. not widely used.

I see now. I have also seen the letter z, though rarely, being used for z. I guess the letter z is used more in handwriting than in printing. Where have you seen z being used?

Another interesting letter I have heard about is one called sagngnaka thaaluja sayanna which also I have never seen in use anywhere. That letter is basically a pre-nasalized letter , which is now written in modern Sinhala as ංශ.
