Got a question for you guys

How "out" are you with your atheism? - for an example has anyone let their parents/significant others known that they don't really believe in a higher power? I assume the majority of the participants of this thread are Buddhists, so this means claiming that you don't believe in "worshiping Buddha, hoping that it will make your life more favorable?

Or saying that you don't really believe in other rituals? have you gotten a lot of resistance against saying that?

This isn't like being gay, I don't think anyone have to be 'outed' about being an atheist.

what on earth is the matter with being gay :dull: or people knowing you are gay..

Seriously! I don't know why people make such a fuss about it. It's okay to be gay and I don't give a damn if I get to know if somebody is.

    Bi is cool, though..;);)

You can't wish for it and get it, you know. :P I wonder what it feels like to go both ways..

Yeah, Angelina Jolie is bi. Oscar Wilde was another cool character. They say Richard the Lionheart and Lawrence of Arabia were bi too..

Atheism is the negation of theism. True, atheists believe that God does not exists. However, atheism is not based on faith. Question of God is a yes or no question, and there is nothing wrong with saying either "yes" or "no". Atheism does not count as extremism, neither does theism. Extremism has to do with your behaviour not with your philosophical positions. Some theists and some atheists may be extremists, but that does not mean theism or atheism themselves are extremes.
Yes Athiesm by definition denies any existance of faith but one might see it in that angle . One Might say Yes God made the universe and other might say No God didn't make it , But Both are Groping in the darkness as far as Evidence is concerned  God May have made the universe , Or there wasn't any god to make the universe , or on the other hand god was there but he couldn't made what we see , Or It can be a result of polythiesm and vice versa , who knows what really happened. The knowledge we have is evolving rapidly so one might be able to prove em right or wrong in the future

    That's a nice comment!

I think if we can explain how the second law (of thermodynamics) is locally violated in favor of a universal increase of entropy, we might come closer to the answer. How order arise out of chaos is an interesting area to think of. Then we might be able to understand life maybe as a local decrease of entropy in favor of a universal increase. If it is so, it will answer where we come from.
